The male officer was not charged following a criminal investigation by Essex Police or suspended by Met Police bosses, and he now faces a misconduct hearing more than three years after the claims were made. His alleged victims claim details of their claims were leaked to the man, allowing him to prepare his defence. Essex Police told the Mirror one of its officers was dismissed in January after a misconduct hearing which heard "he had obtained third-party information through misleading means" and he shared that information "without authorisation".
