It consists of around , objects, displayed and stored in our nine venues. Most areas of the collection are Designated as being of national importance, and it includes the finest collection of Pre-Raphaelite art in the world. This is a new resource and images are regularly being added to it. Jordan, Palestine, Israel, ancient Mesopotamia and Persia are well represented. Highlights include a plastered skull from Jericho, Nimrud ivories and Luristan bronzes. There are around 8, ancient Egyptian artefacts spanning Egyptian history from the Predynastic period to the Graeco-Roman and Coptic eras.

The Hotel Indigo Birmingham is located in a landmark Art Deco-style building dating from the early s in the city's historic Five Points South neighborhood. Originally designed for medical offices and across from the first apothecary in Birmingham, the building became a hotel in the s, but still retains its original medical insignia etched above the elevator doors.
